Grant Thornton Bharat demonstrated its prowess in sports event management through its pivotal role in executing the Khelo India Youth Games 2023 in Tamil Nadu. Our project management unit (PMU) managed the execution of the entire games, introduced with the sole aim of revitalising the sports culture in India and uplifting sports from the grassroots level.

The 6th edition of the Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG), inaugurated by Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi, took place from 19-31 January 2024 across Chennai, Madurai, Trichy, and Coimbatore. With over 5,600 athletes participating in 26 sporting disciplines across 15 venues and 275 events, including indigenous sports like Kalaripayattu and Silambam, this marked the first KIYG held in South India. Team sports like basketball, kabaddi, hockey, football and volleyball added further excitement, drawing enthusiastic support from the state.

With a team of skilled professionals, we managed every aspect, from venue coordination to logistics. Our collaborative approach fostered strong partnerships with local stakeholders and engaged communities, businesses, and sports organisations, delivering a world-class sporting event while maximising the socio-economic benefits and generating economic opportunities for the region.

By offering athletes, spectators, and stakeholders an outstanding platform for participation and observation, Grant Thornton Bharat established a robust groundwork for future achievements in the region's sports sector.
