The use of valuations as a means to determine Fair Market Value has increased dramatically in the Income-tax Act, 1961 with various amendments prescribing various valuation requirements. Corporate valuations also form the basis of corporate finance activity including capital raising, M&A, etc. Justifying the value of businesses has grown more complex and challenging as valuation is not an exact science and depends upon a number of factors like purpose, stage of business, past financials, industry scenario, management and promoters’ strengths, etc. and hence is subjective in nature and open to interpretations.  It is thus, important for finance personnel to have an understanding of the requirements of valuation under the Income-tax Act, 1961 and also a framework of globally accepted methodologies.

Keeping the above requirements in mind, we are pleased to host a knowledge session on valuation from a financial as well as income tax perspective,  followed by a Q&A session that will help build a clear understanding of the concept and law surrounding valuation.
