Grant Thornton India LLP is now Grant Thornton Bharat LLP

Gearing up for its next decade of high growth, Grant Thornton India LLP will now be known as Grant Thornton Bharat LLP among its clients, people and the market at large. The renaming exercise, carried out with the Registrar of Companies, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, was the brainchild of the firm’s CEO Vishesh C. Chandiok.

Said Vishesh, “We take immense pride in our roots as an Indian firm. We have always focused on Indian entrepreneurs and worked closely with the Central and many State Governments. Our name change is reflective of this Indian heritage and market focus which sets Grant Thornton Bharat apart from other large firms.”

The company’s Indian CA affiliate was a small firm when it first became a part of Grant Thornton International’s (GTI) predecessor network in 1970 followed by the birth of GTI in 1980.

“Having been a part of the GTI family for over 50 years, we are extremely proud of the strong local DNA of all our global network firms and offices. Choosing to identify ourselves more strongly in our home market also reiterates the lead role we will continue to play in shaping GTI globally,” said Vishesh.

Under Vishesh’s leadership and in line with its purpose of shaping a more Vibrant Bharat, Grant Thornton Bharat, is today one of the largest professional services firms in the country with over 4,500 people. Its people are advising the government on many of its flagship programmes, private companies in fulfilling their global aspirations, private equity players in making and exiting investments, regulators in resolving the most prominent frauds and bankers in successfully restructuring over-leveraged companies.

“In line with our purpose to shape a more Vibrant Bharat, having established ourselves as a leading challenger to those who prefer to preserve the status quo, we are now aiming to build a business that will serve a million Indian SME clients by 2030,” said Vishesh.

The firm also intends to collaborate with the large CA ecosystem in India to bring the best possible platform to help SMEs scale to become tomorrow’s Middle Market companies. In helping shape the USD 10 trillion economy by 2030, the role of SMEs cannot be underestimated.

Said Vishesh, “We will achieve all the above plans with the support of our People and our Clients, by continuing to lead with our unique culture and by throwing out the usual playbooks in the profession. Grant Thornton Bharat will be the undisputed ‘Status Go’ Firm by 2030 for India and for Indian business.”
