As migrant workers head home, urban remittances decline up to 30% in May

"The second wave of the pandemic in India brought similar challenges witnessed in 2020. Migrant labour was again left to face the heat. Maharashtra and Delhi attract the maximum migration from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and hence, remain top contributors of the domestic remittances. Both Maharashtra and Delhi have been in lockdown since April 2021 and gradually other states like Karnataka, Gujarat have also shut down."
