The challenge

What steps can a textile manufacturer take to strengthen quality control without real-time production insights?

A major Indian textile manufacturer was facing quality-related complaints from downstream buyers of their raw materials, including fibre and yarn. Despite having systems in place, they lacked the real-time visibility and analytical capabilities needed to trace these issues to their root cause. Without the ability to correlate their production quality with customer outcomes, resolving complaints remained a challenge.

How we helped

Building a cloud-native platform for real-time quality monitoring

Grant Thornton collaborated with the client’s leadership to design a cloud-native application that could provide end-to-end visibility into raw material quality and its downstream impact. Built on Microsoft Azure using a fully serverless architecture, the solution leveraged modern DevOps and Cloud DBaaS practices for agile deployment. The application was developed using HTML5, JavaScript, Node.js and Azure SQL Managed Instance, with dashboards that enabled real-time monitoring and insight generation. Continuous integration and deployment were automated using Azure DevOps tools.

The results

Real-time data brings better quality assurance and customer trust

The new cloud-native platform equipped the client’s production team with real-time dashboards that visualised product quality data and its relationship with customer outcomes. For the first time, they could correlate the quality of fibre they produced with the yarn manufactured by their buyers, allowing for quicker root cause analysis, better quality assurance, and improved customer trust.
