Appreciation Break

How Bhawik made the most of the Appreciation Break and embraced the spirit of #GoBeyond, from mountain peaks to the workplace
Bhawik Kapoor, Manager, Market Ecosystems at Grant Thornton Bharat, is a passionate trekker who has used Grant Thornton Bharat's year-end Appreciation Break to explore mountain trails, push his limits, and gain fresh perspectives along the way. His story reflects the value of making time for what matters most and embracing the #GoBeyond mindset in a culture that recognises that personal passions often inspire professional growth.
For Bhawik, trekking began as a way to explore the outdoors and challenge himself beyond his daily routine. What started with a trek to Triund in Himachal Pradesh during his college years soon grew into a passion for discovering new trails, embracing unfamiliar terrain and testing his limits.
Over the years, that passion has taken him across some of India's most breathtaking landscapes, from the snow-covered trails of Kedarkantha and the demanding ascent to Pangarchulla Peak to the pristine beauty of Kashmir's Marchoi Valley.
Yet, for Bhawik, the true reward has never been reaching the summit.
"The mountains have a way of putting everything into perspective," he shares. "When you're out there, carrying everything you need on your back and navigating changing conditions, you learn to focus on what truly matters."
Each year, the Grant Thornton Bharat’s Appreciation Break provides an opportunity for people to unplug, recharge and spend time doing what matters most to them.
For Bhawik, it creates the space to pursue experiences that challenge him physically and mentally while allowing him to return refreshed and energised.
The Appreciation Break has given me the opportunity to plan these adventures and fully immerse myself in them. Knowing that the Firm values the wellbeing and personal passions of its people makes a real difference.
These moments away from work have become more than just a break. They've become opportunities for growth, reflection and self-discovery.
Every trek brings its own challenges. Unpredictable weather, steep climbs and unfamiliar paths often require quick thinking, adaptability and resilience.
Through these experiences, Bhawik has learned that progress isn't always about moving fast. Sometimes, it's simply about staying focused on the next step.
One lesson, in particular, has stayed with him through every journey: Most limits exist only in our minds.
The mountains have taught him to trust the process, adapt to change and keep moving forward even when the destination feels distant. They have reinforced the value of perseverance and the importance of remaining calm in the face of uncertainty.
The lessons Bhawik learns in the mountains don't stay there. The resilience required to tackle challenging trails, the agility needed to navigate changing conditions and the confidence to embrace the unknown have all influenced the way he approaches his work at Grant Thornton Bharat.
Whether it is solving complex challenges, exploring new opportunities or stepping outside his comfort zone, he draws on the same mindset that has guided him through every climb.
For Bhawik, the connection is simple: growth often happens when we push beyond what feels familiar. And that is what the spirit of #GoBeyond means to him.
At Grant Thornton Bharat, we recognise that people bring their best selves to work when they have the freedom to invest in what inspires them outside of it.
Bhawik's story is one example of how creating space for personal passions can lead to meaningful growth, fresh perspectives and renewed energy.
Because sometimes, the experiences that shape us most happen beyond the desk. And when people are empowered to pursue what matters, they return ready to contribute, inspire and go beyond in everything they do. return ready to contribute, inspire and go beyond in everything they do.
At Grant Thornton Bharat, we believe careers are shaped not only by the work we do, but by the people who support us along the way.
Through initiatives like #Return2Purple, we welcome our alumni back into a culture built on collaboration, opportunity and belonging, a place where relationships endure and growth continues.
For Aashita, returning wasn't just about rejoining an organisation. It was about coming back to a place that had been investing in her success from the very start, a place that always felt like home.
